Who We Are

Our Pastor

Rev. Peg M. Faulmann was born in Ohio into an Irish/Italian Roman Catholic household.  Her journey with church ministry is extensive. Peg spent most of her life in music and worship ministry in the Catholic Church, taught elementary music, and dabbled in adult and youth ministry. Peg received a BA in Religious Studies at Lourdes College in Sylvania, Ohio, and then an MA in Theology and Ministry from an extension program out of Loyola University, New Orleans.  Her intention was to go into parish administration or diocesan work.  However, her theology and call to ordination ultimately drew her out of Roman Catholic ministry.

Peg began attending her husband's church; Park Congregational UCC in Toledo, Ohio, immediately found herself to be at home in the UCC, and soon after became Park’s music minister. When Peg and Erv moved to Seattle several years later, she realized that she could now pursue her call to ordained ministry, and enrolled at the ecumenical School of Theology and Ministry at Seattle U. She obtained her Master of Divinity required for ordination. Peg had an internship at Keystone UCC, serving as music director and then as Associate Pastor.  Peg also completed a chaplaincy internship at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington, and is also a certified Spiritual Director. In Seattle, Peg worked extensively with the homeless women, a large percentage of whom were women of color, and is a “White Ally.” Peg is also a strong ally and advocate for the LGBTQ community.  She co-founded the Owosso, MI Area Chapter of PFLAG, and led her previous congregation, St. John’s United Church of Christ in Owosso, Michigan, to an “Open and Affirming” status in the UCC.

Peg values a connection between one's spirituality and one's work in the world, and believes in doing the inner work necessary to gain the strength to pursue the issues in society that keep us from living in harmony.  Peg has a rather eclectic palette of spiritual practices, and finds connection to ecumenical and multi-faith efforts.

Peg is married to Ervin L. Faulmann, who holds a doctorate in microbiology.  While Peg was doing ministry, she and Erv owned a environmental testing and research laboratory in Toledo, where Erv did the science and Peg did the office work. Peg and Erv’s adult children and grandchildren live north of Chicago, and her parents are in assisted living in Perrysburg, Ohio.  They are enjoying living in South Bend, where they are fixing up an old home.
