Zion Music Ministry

At Zion, we offer many opportunities for members to participate in music ministry.  We have a choir that meets weekly from September through May, the Gospel girls which meets mostly in the summer and on special occasions, and a handbell choir.  We have many talented members of our congregation who share their talents throughout the year.  We are always looking for special music.  If interested, please e-mail our music director at misty_grubbs@yahoo.com.

Music Director

Our music director is Misty Grubbs, who has served at Zion since February of 2009.  Misty is a graduate of Indiana State University and the University of Kentucky and grew up in St. John’s United Church of Christ in Ashley, Indiana.  She moved to Elkhart in 2007 with her husband and 2 children.  Prior to coming to Zion, she served St. John’s in Elkhart, where she worked with Pastor David Sickelka.  It was through connections with David that she was introduced to Zion in 2009.  Misty teaches choir at Elkhart Central High School and also plays trombone in the Jazz Assemblege in Elkhart. 

Organist/accompanist

Our organist and choir accompanist is Sarah Schubert.  Sarah is a graduate of Elkhart Central High School, where she met Misty Grubbs (her piano class teacher).  This connection brought Sarah to Zion.  She is a student at Notre Dame studying chemistry.  Sarah is an accomplished pianist and organist as well as a very fine violinist.
